In recent months, the ICC Centre of Entrepreneurship has expanded its operations by hiring an executive coordinator and releasing a community workshop report.

Over the past year, ICC has launched the first two hubs of the ICC Centre of Entrepreneurship to provide specialised training, mentoring, and support services to help entrepreneurs establish, fund, manage, and expand their start-ups. The first regional ICC Centre of Entrepreneurship was launched in Istanbul to serve the Central Asia and Caucus region in early 2020 and was followed by another regional hub in Beirut to serve the Arab region in October 2020.

In the coming months, ICC will launch hubs in Africa, South America, and Asia.

Here are key updates from the ICC Centre of Entrepreneurship regional hubs:

Appointment of Executive Coordinator in Beirut

ICC is pleased to announce the appointment of Joelle Yazbeck as Executive Coordinator for the ICC-ESCWA Centre of Entrepreneurship. Ms Yazbeck has a deep understanding of strategic marketing and helped develop digital-first strategies for small businesses to create engaging and impactful customer experiences. Launching her career in entrepreneurship within the non-profit sector, Joelle previously led the Pan Arab chapter of the MIT Enterprise Forum delivering vision, strategic direction and leadership.

Ms Yazbeck is keen to engage with collaborators and establish community partnerships to support and further develop entrepreneurship in the region. You can contact Joelle by email at [email protected].

Launch of the Beirut community workshop report

Since the launch of the ICC-ESCWA Centre of Entrepreneurship, three community workshops were organised to hear directly from entrepreneurs and small businesses about the challenges and opportunities in the region.

Each workshop focused on one of the three key tracks for the Centre:

  1. Inspiring future entrepreneurs
  2. Digitising SMEs
