ICC Albania joined efforts with Deloitte Albania in the development of a brief report focused on Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in the private sector. This publication presents preliminary findings from a pilot survey conducted recently in Albania, offering valuable insights into current business practices and emerging trends in EDI.
Our goal is to support the private sector in transforming EDI principles into strategic, actionable policies. The report explores how companies are implementing EDI initiatives, identifies key gaps, and sets the stage for future development.
Key observations:
- From Ideas to Action: While EDI is increasingly present in company discourse, it often lacks the strategic prioritization, leadership commitment, and structured implementation needed for lasting impact.
- Beyond Recruitment: Most EDI efforts focus on hiring practices. There is a clear need to embed inclusion deeper into the employment lifecycle — from onboarding to leadership development.
- Barriers to Progress: The challenges are less about resistance and more about the lack of structure, collaboration, and support to move from intention to impact.
- Collaboration is Key: At a national level, stronger partnerships between businesses, chambers of commerce & business associations, and policymakers are needed to raise awareness and develop effective, coordinated EDI policies.
This publication is a first step, a baseline for broader dialogue and strategic progress in creating inclusive workplaces where everyone can thrive.
